It leaves by high-speed rail from Guilin West on day three, so it connects onward rather than doubling back.

   Up for the Seven Stars with the Moon platform and on to Nine Dragons Five Tigers, while the mist is still in the valley and the flooded terraces are breaking the light · Bamboo-tube rice cooked over the fire · A Yao household demonstrates the plant dyeing the village still does by hand · Lunch in the terraces, then two hours down to Guilin West for a mid-afternoon train.
