What this day is
The counterpart to a Great Wall day: everything inside the city that a first visit should cover, sequenced so you are never doubling back. Temple of Heaven in the morning while the park is still active, Yonghe Lama Temple for a quieter hour, duck at a local restaurant, then the Summer Palace for the afternoon light on Kunming Lake. Transport runs between each stop, so the day is walking-paced without being a subway marathon.
