Two UNESCO-grade sights sit two hours apart, which is why most visitors give them separate days and lose one of those days to driving. The 07:00 start is what collapses them into one. It is a long day — twelve and a half hours — and it is the reason the day exists at all.
Planning notes
The things that decide whether a day works, written for whoever is building the itinerary rather than for a brochure.
Door-to-door between 07:00 and 07:30, but only for hotels inside the 2nd ring road. Send the hotel name when you book so we can confirm it rather than discovering it at 07:00. Everything outside that ring is a private arrangement.
Pandas are active for the morning feed and much less so afterwards — an 09:00 departure reaches the base to find most of them asleep. The same start is what leaves enough afternoon at Leshan to take the cliff stairway down past the Buddha instead of photographing it from the viewing platform.
Lunch at Leshan is the single exclusion on an otherwise all-in day — tickets to both sites, the coach, and the guide are included. Budget for it on site.
It ends at Tianfu Square around 19:30, in the centre, not back at your hotel. Fine from a downtown room, worth flagging to a client staying by the airport.
