Overview
What this journey is
The standard Guilin sell stops at Yangshuo. This one banks the Li River cruise and the Yulong River ride inside a single day, then drives up to Jinkeng Dazhai for a night in the terraces — which is what turns Longji from a two-hour photo halt into a sunrise, a hike and a morning with Yao households. It leaves by high-speed rail from Guilin West on day three, so it connects onward rather than doubling back.
Day by day
- 1
Day 1 — Arrive Guilin
Met on arrival and into the city · The day is deliberately light, because this is the night a long-haul group sleeps off the flight — the hotel sits in a quiet central lane on double glazing · In the evening, Zhengyang pedestrian street and the Two Rivers and Four Lakes lit from the bank, ten minutes away on foot · Horse-meat rice noodles at Weixiangguan for anyone still standing.
- 2
Day 2 — Li River cruise, the Yulong River, then up to Longji
Priority boarding on a four-star Li River boat — three decks and a buffet lunch on board · Nine Horses Painting Mountain off the rail, then the Yellow Cloth reflection the back of the 20-yuan note was painted from, at its clearest on a still, bright day · Off at Yangshuo and straight onto the Yulong River for an e-bike run through the old county section, past the thousand-year village and the phoenix-tail bamboo, alongside the raft line · Two and a half hours up to Jinkeng Dazhai, with the Yao and Zhuang terrace irrigation explained on the way · Evening at the village fire pit.
- 3
Day 3 — Longji at first light, then Guilin West
Up for the Seven Stars with the Moon platform and on to Nine Dragons Five Tigers, while the mist is still in the valley and the flooded terraces are breaking the light · Bamboo-tube rice cooked over the fire · A Yao household demonstrates the plant dyeing the village still does by hand · Lunch in the terraces, then two hours down to Guilin West for a mid-afternoon train.

Operational notes
The things worth raising before you quote it, not after.
- Longji is a guesthouse, not a hotel. Rooms are small and the walk in from the car park or the cable car is real. It is the right call for the sunrise and the wrong one for a client who has booked five-star throughout.
- The terraces are worth the night when flooded (mid-April to mid-June) or gold (mid-September to early November). Between the two they are green, and between harvest and flood they are bare — tell the client which one they are buying.
- The Li River cruise runs on the water level. January to March the operator may shorten the route or move the group to a smaller boat.
- Day three is built around a mid-afternoon departure from Guilin West. Send us the onward city and we will build it around the actual train rather than the sample one.
- Sample itinerary. Dates, hotel ladder and net rates are quoted against your brief.
