The whale-shark tunnel is the core: a slow shadow overhead, a rain of tropical fish at the sides. After dark the wheel and the lake turn the park into another city. Shows run on a clock; miss the clock and you will spend the sea in a queue.
The grounds are large. Routes need a cut. Families often split aquarium and coasters across two days. Hengqin looks at Macau across the water; the trip can be a day of sea and a day of city.
Peaks are school holidays. On a weekday the water is clearer, the lines shorter, and the light show still happens.
What to do
- Ocean Kingdom pairs naturally with Macau, which is a short crossing away.
- The safari park's night version is the distinctive one.
