Overview

What this journey is

Line B is the Shanghai that predates the skyline. Yu Garden is a Ming garden of the Jiangnan school, laid out under the Jiajing reign and now more than five hundred years old; the streets around it are the old walled city. The afternoon crosses into the former French Concession — Xintiandi is the shikumen block rebuilt as a pedestrian quarter — and finishes at the Jade Buddha Temple, founded 1882 around two Burmese jade figures. No tower, no cruise, no water town.

Operational notes

The things worth raising before you quote it, not after.

  • Yu Garden closes on Mondays. Do not schedule this line on a Monday — run Line A instead and swap the days.
  • The Oriental Pearl and the Huangpu cruise are not on this line; they are Line A.
  • Line C compresses A and B into a single day if the client only has one.
  • Rates do not apply over the China International Import Expo or Chinese New Year. Other major trade fairs are usually fine at more than a month's notice.
  • Booked inside a fair week, vehicles and guides get scarce and pricing moves with the market.
  • Large groups may need a luggage vehicle, which is quoted on top.
  • An evening meal or an evening activity adds a guide and vehicle surcharge.
